“did not want his uniform cut off because he had a game the next day.”

Hello NorCal State Cup participants,

During the past day, NorCal has received a number of requests for information about Jonathan; the young Santa Clara Sporting Soccer player who on Saturday died in a tragic car accident while returning home from the first day of the tournament.

All of us at NorCal – the Board of Directors and staff offer our sympathy and support to the family of this young soccer player. His memory and love of soccer will not be forgotten by NorCal and by many thousands of other people after they read the article below taken from the Santa Clara Sporting website.

Personally, I have been involved in youth soccer for almost 40 years and in all that time I have never been as moved by anything related to soccer as when I heard that Jonathan "did not want his uniform cut off because he had a game the next day." How he must have loved soccer and his team!

The needed information for those wishing to send condolences and/or financial support for the family is below!

Thanks, NorCal

In Memory of Jonathan Manzo Chavez
